Mahila Umang Samiti was formed in 2001 to promote and sustain a growing network of hill women from rural Kumaon.  These women are engaged in improving the quality of life for their families through supplementary incomes generated by  the following micro-enterprises; hand knitted woollens, fruit preserves & pickles, natural honey, beeswax candles, and natural spices.   All products are marketed under the brand name Kumaoni and Himkhadya.  Every purchase directly assists resource-poor households through trade and not aid.
